BOYFRIEND adalah boyband
yang debut dibawah naungan agensi Starship Entertainment. Grup ini terdiri dari
6 cowok keren yaitu Donghyun, Hyunseong, Jeongmin, Youngmin, Kwangmin dan
Minwoo. Debut album mereka diproduksi oleh komposer terkenal Brave Brother (komposer
terkenal yang juga memproduksi penyanyi seperti Son Dambi, after School, Big
Bang, Sistar, dll). Mereka resmi debut pada 26 Mei 2011 dengan single “Boyfriend”
di acara Mnet M!Countdown dan 27 Mei 2011 di acara KBS Music Bank.
Sebelum debut, si kembar Kwang
Min dan Young Min sempat menjalani audisi untuk JYP Entertainment, dimana mereka
di training selama 2 tahun. Sementara sang leader dong Hyun ketika masih SMA
turut membitangi “Conduct Zero”, sebuah variety show dimana enam siswa
pemberontak di SMA tiba-tiba harus menjadi panutan.
Member pertama yang diungkap
kepublik adalah No Min Woo yng muncul sebagai cameo di di video My Herat
Beating milik K-Will. 2 hari kemudian foto dari si kembar Jo Young Min dan Jo Kwang Min di ungkap oleh Straship
Entertainment. Boyfriend mengungkapkan proses debut mereka melalui reality show
Mnet’s M!Pick yang mana memperlihatkan apa saja yang mereka pelajari.
